Overview
The Department of Education and Training's (DET) Health Workforce Skills Capacity Development Program is an initiative of the Queensland Skills Plan 2008. This program aims to contribute to a more skilled health services sector workforce and focuses on developing the vocational education and training (VET) capacity in the health services area.
The program will support workforce development by utilising existing infrastructure and building on cross-government skilling partnerships and industry engagement activities. Flexible delivery models and partnership initiatives in the Health industry will also support professional development activities for vocational health educators (or equivalent) through 30 fellowships and scholarships over three years.
Fellowships and scholarships
Up to 10 fellowships/scholarships ranging from $1000 to $15,000 will be awarded annually to eligible applicants. Application rounds may be held twice a year commencing in 2009.
Successful applicants are required to complete their nominated activity within 12 months of receiving funding. A completion report and financial reconciliation is required as part of the Health Workforce Skills Capacity Development Program.
